FINCA EL CERRILLO is a boutique hotel sitting in peaceful countryside close to the traditional white villages of Canillas de Albaida and Competa. Situated on the edge of the National Park in the foothills of the Sierra Tejeda mountains, the area is unspoiled yet only one hour travelling distance from Malaga airport.
Sue & Gordon Kind converted the Hotel in 2002 from a 200-year-old olive mill to provide 14 en-suite bedrooms. The Hotel preserves the charm and character of old Andalucia but offers modern comforts such as underfloor heating and air-conditioning. Surrounded by mature gardens it has a pool, honesty bar and library as well as a studio space and outdoor Yoga deck with stunning views. All meals are freshly cooked and delicious. There is a loyal staff team who can run the operation with minimal management.

The nearby villages offer a great choice of bars and restaurants to suit all pockets. Local taxi and minibus services are reliable.
Guests can easily reach the Alhambra palace, the seaside and old Malaga town which has been elegantly restored and boasts numerous art galleries, museums, shops and tapas bars.
The Hotel mainly offers group holidays but any spare rooms are available for B&B stays. This flexible approach means we consistently have an 85% occupancy rate.
Our guided Walking holidays are often fully booked a year ahead. There are numerous good walking trails for all levels of walker leaving directly from the Hotel.
The staff team at the Hotel have all been with us for many years and are reliable, hard-working and committed to good customer service.
We hope to retire in the next few years when we have sold the business but we can arrange to be available to help new owners settle in to the property.

The Hotel sits in a peaceful location on the outskirts of one of the traditional “White Villages of Andalucia.” The village (population circa 4,000) has a cosmopolitan vibe with a good choice of bars and restaurants. There is regular entertainment in the lively village square.
Finca El Cerillo is on the doorstep of the Sierra Tejeda y Almijara National Park offering easy access to many Walking and Cycling routes. Eagles and Ibex are often spotted from the Hotel. There are stunning views of the highest mountain in the range – La Maroma 2060m. Bird Watching and Horse riding area available nearby.
A short drive from the Hotel (30 minutes) brings you to the lively resort of Nerja. A little further and you arrive at the marine Natural reserve with its unspoilt beaches. Along the coast you will find local Chringuitos on the beach serving freshly caught seafood. Torre del Mar offers a range of beach clubs with loungers and hundreds of restaurants to choose from.
Only one hour from Finca El Cerillo, Malaga old Town has been elegantly restored and offers a huge variety of shops, restaurants, galleries and theatres. People watching from one of the many pavement cafes is a relaxing pastime after a day of busy sightseeing.
Competa is well placed to visit Granada and the Alhambra (1hr.45) or take the fast train from Malaga to Cordoba or Seville. There are good road links to all parts of Spain.
Although offering all modern conveniences such as a 24 hour medical Centre, great WiFi etc. Competa and the surrounding villages still maintain strong links with traditional festivals throughout the year. Saints days, the wine harvest and the local nispero fruit are just some of the celebrations you will see during the year. Easter is the highlight with processions in all the villages as well as the mass celebrations in Malaga.
